Family celebrations, weddings, anniversaries and milestone birthdays deserve a unique and special celebration. So why not get away from it all and whisk your friends and family to a beautiful, romantic and relaxed retreat in the heart of Umbria? La Preghiera is wonderfully secluded yet easily accessible from Ancona and Rome.

This beautifully converted 12th Century Monastery retains much of its original character including a private chapel in the beautiful gardens that is perfect for weddings. (For more information download the Weddings at La Preghiera brochure.)

Throughout the house there are terracotta floors with underfloor heating, huge oak and chestnut beams, and spacious rooms furnished with antiques, family collectables and handmade furniture. There are eleven bedrooms in the main house, and a further three bedrooms in the private Villa Moscatelli that also stands on the estate. Each room boasts a marble-clad ensuite, and has been elegantly furnished with Umbrian linens and comfortable beds fitted with smooth silk and cotton blend sheets.

Whatever the occasion a little extra pampering never goes amiss and there is a range of in-house beauty treatments available Beauty Treatments .

Dining is one of the highlights at La Preghiera, with most produce being sourced within a 5-minute radius of the property. Gourmet breakfasts and dinners are served in the elegant dining room around a grand table laid with crystal glasses, beautiful napkins and silver candelabras. There is also a range of wonderful trattorias and restaurants in the area if you wish choose to dine out on any of the evenings during your stay.

About Your Hosts

Your warm and generous hosts, John and Liliana, have lived in Umbria for over 20 years, during which time they have bought and restored over 200 properties as part of their business, Properties Umbria. Liliana is also an interior designer and has furnished La Preghiera with her lifetime collection of art deco silverware, Galle, Aubusson and bone china. John used to have a ‘lead toy soldier’ shop in London and La Preghiera now houses only one of five Model Soldier Museums in Italy.
